Uzbekistan, ADB discuss cooperation in energy sector in Jizzakh region
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A meeting with representatives of the Asian Development Bank was held at Uzbekneftegaz. It was attended by Energy Minister Alisher Sultanov, heads of Uzbekneftegaz, Uzatom agency, ADB Director General for Central and West Asia Werner Lipak, ADB Representative Office in the Republic of Uzbekistan Cindy Malvicini and others.
The agenda included discussions on participation of ADB in financing projects in the country’s energy sector, as well as further development of bilateral cooperation in the oil and gas sector, the press service of Uzbekneftegaz said.
It was noted that the partnership of Uzbekistan and the Asian Development Bank is developing consistently, including in the field of energy, which covers the entire chain: from generating electricity to its distribution. In particular, the representatives of the ADB during their visit familiarized themselves with the progress of the project on the implementation of an automated control and metering system for electricity in Jizzakh region.
During the meeting, the foreign party was also provided with information on the reforms being carried out in the fuel and energy sector of Uzbekistan, projects being implemented and plans for the future. Representatives of the ADB expressed their interest in the project “Program for the modernization of the gas transmission system of the Republic of Uzbekistan”.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue the dialogue. The foreign side expressed its willingness to provide financial and technical assistance in the framework of bilateral cooperation.
