Uzbekistan Accelerates Transition to Paperless Government
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan is intensifying measures to transition government agencies to paperless workflows.
On 18 March 2026, the government approved Resolution No. 109 “On Measures to Regulate Paper Use as Part of Digitalizing Work Processes in Republican and Local Executive Authorities.”
Under the new directive, by 1 June 2026, special containers will be installed for collecting used paper and organizing its transfer to recycling enterprises.
Limits on paper consumption will also be introduced for each department, taking into account staff size, workload, and actual need.
Starting from 1 May 2026, government bodies will implement measures to plan expenses for paper, ink, printers, and copying equipment, aiming for an annual reduction of 15%.
A centralized shared printer system will be established, with one printer allocated for every 20 employees in open offices. Additionally, a monthly eco-event, “Paperless Day,” will be organized.
These initiatives are designed to increase operational efficiency, reduce costs, and minimize environmental impact as part of the state digitalization program.
