Uzbekistan abolishes VAT on the sale and import of meat, livestock and potatoes

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 25 October, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a law "On Amendments to the Tax Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, aimed at guaranteed provision of the population with basic types of food products."

The document was adopted by the Legislative Chamber on 19 October and approved by the Senate on 21 October 2021.

The law introduces amendments to the Tax Code in order to increase the income of the population by ensuring the stability of demand and prices for meat products and potatoes, which is the main consumer product, in the republic.

In particular, Article 483 of the Tax Code introduces an additional norm on exemption from 10 October 2021 to 31 December 2021 from value added tax imported into the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as from the turnover for the sale of meat (beef, lamb, chicken), animals (livestock and poultry) in live form and products of their slaughter, potatoes and frozen fish.

The law came into force on 26 October, but it also applies to relations arising from 10 October.
