Uzbekistan Abolishes Over 1,600 Mandatory Requirements for Entrepreneurs
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted a resolution “On Amendments and Additions, as well as on Recognizing Certain Resolutions of the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan as Invalid.”
The document eliminates more than 1,600 mandatory requirements in the field of entrepreneurship, marking an unprecedented step toward reducing bureaucratic barriers.
The decision specifically affects requirements for obtaining product conformity certificates for 1,568 product items under veterinary service control, as well as excessive restrictions on providing tourism services and on activities of individual entrepreneurs.
Among the abolished rules are the limit on the value of imported goods for individual entrepreneurs set at $5,000, regulations on renting housing to tourists for up to 30 days, and rules for manufacturing wooden furniture.
The Ministry of Justice noted that more than 36,000 norms have been entered into the Unified Electronic Register of Mandatory Requirements for Entrepreneurship, and the agency continues working on their optimization to save time, reduce costs, and simplify interaction between entrepreneurs and administrative bodies.
The large-scale abolition of these requirements aims to create a more transparent and convenient business environment and to support private initiative in the country.
