According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investment and Trade of Uzbekistan, the import dues were abolished in line with the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan No 45 from 18 February 2016.
The Uzbek Ministry said that the decision on abolishment of dues was adopted in connection with cancelation of additional import dues in relation of goods, imported from Ukraine, from 1 January 2016.
On 26 February 2015, Ukraine adopted the law “On measures on stabilization of budget balance of Ukraine in line with article XII of General agreement on tariffs and trade 1994”. Ukraine introduced additional duties for imports at the size of 5-10% for 2015 for all imported goods.
Uzbekistan introduced import dues for goods, originated from Ukraine, at the size of 5% from 1 July 2015 for 12 months in order to protect its economic interests.
