Uzbekenergo plans to attract WB loan for US$60m

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- State joint stock company Uzbekenergo is planning to attract a loan of the World Bank at the size of US$60 million to construct energy supply objects of railway road via Qamchiq pass in the first quarter of 2015, RIA Novosti reported quoting source in the company.

Uzbekenergo official said that the funds will be attracted due to resources of Internal Bank for Reconstruction and Development, which is a part of the World Bank.

The project envisages construction of objects of infrastructure, including high voltage line 110/220 kV and traction substations for the new electrified railway line “Angren-Pap” with the length of 130 km. The company announced a pre-qualification to tender for the supply of equipment due to resources of the IBRD.

Uzbekistan Temir Yollari started construction of electrified railroad Angren-Pap in July 2014. The road will go through Qamchiq Pass and link Ferghana Valley (Andijan, Namangan and Ferghana regions) with other part of Uzbekistan. China Railway Tunnel Group constructs tunnel of the railway with the cost of US$455 million.

Preliminary cost of the project makes up US$1.769 billion. The project will be financed due to resources of the state budget, own resources of Uzbekistan Temir Yollari and loans of international financial institutions. The construction term is five years.
