Uzbekenergo announces tender for construction of two combined-cycle plants at Talimarjan TPP

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekenergo JSC announced a tender for a project to build the next two combined-cycle plants at Talimarjan thermal power plant.

The company announced an international tender for provision of consulting services for management and supervision of the project "Expansion of the Talimarjan thermal power plant with the construction of the next combined-cycle plants with a total capacity of at least 900 MW."

According to Uzbekenergo, the company began to build the next two combined-cycle plants with a capacity of at least 900 MW at the Talimarjan thermal power plant.

The project is aimed at development of generating capacity through the introduction of modern energy-saving technologies, enhancing the reliability and safety of the power system.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) in December 2017 provided a loan for US$450 million to install additional generating equipment using modern energy-saving combined-cycle technologies.

Within the project signed a mandate letter between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to finance the project worth US$225 million.

A feasibility study of the project is currently being developed. Estimated project completion date is 2023.
