Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 23 June 2020, Uzbek-Turkmen political and economic consultations were held with the participation of deputy ministers of foreign affairs, investment and foreign trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan and deputy ministers of foreign affairs and trade, and foreign economic relations of Turkmenistan in the form of video conference.
The parties emphasized that, thanks to the strong political will and constant support of the heads of state in recent years, the Uzbek-Turkmen relations have risen to a new level and have become steadily growing.
The participants also emphasized the importance of creating favorable conditions for successful interaction between government structures, regions and business circles of the two countries, as well as using the potential of such formats as the joint Intergovernmental Uzbek-Turkmen Commission for Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation, Business advice. The necessity of creating a border trade zone between the two countries, expanding the range and volumes of goods and services provided was noted.
The parties agreed on the need to expand cooperation in the field of transport, transport communications and transit, as well as interaction in solving water and energy issues.
In addition, the parties discussed issues of the current state and prospects for the further development of bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the political, cultural and humanitarian fields.
