Uzbek textiles in Kuwait market

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 9 June 2020, for the first time, targeted export of Uzbek textile products was carried out - 2 million 200 thousand medical masks for US$450,000 from Uzbekistan to Kuwait.

The export was carried out as a result of active cooperation of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the State of Kuwait and the Uztekstilprom Association. Medical devices were delivered to Kuwait by special cargo plane from the Navoi Free Economic Zone airport.

Export of the first batch of medical masks was realized within the framework of a contract signed at the end of May 2020 for US$10 million between the Kuwaiti company Fursan Al Khaleej and LLC Engilsanoatsavdo at the Uztekstilprom Association.

These medical masks were imported by order of the Ministry of the Interior of Kuwait. Part of the masks will be transferred to the Ministry of Health of this country.

President of the Fursan Al Khaleej company, Jokhid al-Ataish, emphasized that the export of medical devices was initiated and actively supported by the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Kuwait. “Before deciding on the organization of imports, we carefully studied the products of various countries, including China. As a result of our research, we opted for Uzbek products, which, first of all, suit us with their quality. We also highly appreciate the well-established work of our Uzbek partners in the Uztekstilprom Association and Engilsanoatsavdo LLC, which quickly organized the production of products and their delivery to Kuwait.

Currently, we have begun to formulate the next order for medical supplies - masks, overalls, gloves and other protective equipment from Uzbekistan. I really hope that with the support of the Embassy of Uzbekistan and effective cooperation with Uzbek suppliers, we can import a large batch of textile products in the very near future.”

The president of Perfect Dental Care, Vail al-Ataish, noted that in the current difficult epidemiological situation in the world, the demand for medical supplies is growing. In this regard, the decision of the Uzbek leadership on increasing the production of high-quality export-oriented medical devices in the republic is very important. A positive assessment also deserves the fact that the Uzbek government, timely and correctly assessing the situation on the international market, is taking all necessary measures to create favorable conditions and preferences for exporting companies to sell their products. Importing medical masks from Uzbekistan was our first experience of cooperation with Uzbek partners, and we are ready for further close cooperation.

The Ambassador of Uzbekistan in Kuwait, Bahromjon Aloev, emphasized that for the first time in the history of Uzbek-Kuwaiti relations, a significant amount of targeted export of Uzbek products was carried out. “The export of textile products was carried out thanks to close cooperation with the Uztekstilprom Association.

At present, our diplomatic mission is conducting systematic work to fulfill the tasks set by the leadership of the republic to increase the export of Uzbek products to the international market.

Currently, we are actively working on expanding the range of imports of Uzbek textile, food and agricultural products to Kuwait, as well as studying the needs of Qatar, Bahrain and Iraq, which are promising markets for the sale of Uzbek products. For these purposes, with the support of the Embassy, direct contacts were established between companies importers from these countries and Uzbek manufacturers and importers.
