Uzbek Tennis Player Polina Kudermetova Wins Silver at Canberra Challenger

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbek tennis player Polina Kudermetova claimed the silver medal at the Canberra Challenger tournament. In the final match, she was defeated by Taiwan’s Joanna Garland, 4–6, 2–6.

Reaching the final earned Kudermetova prize money of US$19,700 and 81 WTA ranking points. The tournament winner received over $33,600 and added 125 points to her ranking.

Polina Kudermetova has represented Uzbekistan since the end of last year. Previously, she competed under the Russian flag. At the time of her transition to the Uzbek national team, she was ranked 104th in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) world rankings.

Her coach is the well-known Russian tennis player Dinara Safina, who previously trained Diana Schneider, the silver medalist in the doubles event at the 2024 Olympic Games.
