Uzbek students of Russian universities receive detailed information about the upcoming parliamentary elections

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - Representatives of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Russia talked about the election campaign to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and local Kengashes during a meeting with our compatriots, studying at the Higher School of Economics National Research University, Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation and Moscow State University of Technology and Management named after K. Razumovsky, the correspondent of Dunyo reports.

At the meeting, it was noted that the elections to the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and local Kengashes of people's deputies scheduled for 22 December 2019 will mark a new stage in the country's modernization. At the same time, one of the distinguishing features of the upcoming elections is the increase in the number of participants in the election process. In particular, five political parties participate in the election campaign.

The leaders and representatives of Russian universities highly appreciated the fact that the current election campaign in Uzbekistan will be held on the basis of a conceptually new electoral law - the Electoral Code, which incorporates the principles and norms of international law recognized in the democratic community. According to scientists, the Electoral Code has become a set of laws of direct action and has unified the norms of the laws on elections in Uzbekistan.

The teaching staff emphasized the high number of Uzbek citizens who entered the Russian universities in the current academic year, literacy, initiative and good indicators in the study of Uzbek students.

Uzbek students from universities expressed gratitude to the leadership of the republic for creating favorable conditions for the widespread use of suffrage by citizens living abroad.

Embassy staff members explained in detail the procedure for including Uzbek citizens in Moscow in the voter list for voting at polling station No. 31, which will be organized on the territory of the Embassy of our country in the Russian Federation.

Students were also given advice on consular issues.

At the meetings, decisions were made to create “Clubs of Uzbek Students” at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation and the Moscow State University of Technology and Management named after K. Razumovsky. The main objectives of the clubs will be to assist young students from our republic in adapting to their studies, to conduct cultural and sports events at universities, to strengthen contacts between youth organizations of Uzbekistan and Russia.
