Uzbek-South Korean consultations hold in Seoul

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Uzbekistan met with the South Korean Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Lee Kyung-soo on 24 April 2014.

The sides held next round of the Uzbek-South Korean consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs. At the meeting, the sides considered current state and perspectives of developing bilateral relations, issuing of interacting within international organizations, as well as some international and regional problems.

At the meeting, currently the relations between two states have comprehensive and strategic character, based on principles of mutual respect and long-term interests. South Korea was and will be reliable and time-tested partner of Uzbekistan and it is the largest Asian investor into Uzbekistan.

In the result of the official visit of President Islam Karimov to South Korea in 2012 and negotiations at high level, the sides signed a package of agreements on joint perspective projects in various sectors of economy for total sum of US$5 billion.

In this context, the sides exchanged opinion on implementation of earlier signed Uzbek-South Korean agreements, schedule of upcoming bilateral inter-state contacts and developing projects on new joint documents, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.

In Seoul, the delegation of Uzbekistan held meeting and negotiations with Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Korea Yun Byung-se. The sides considered perspective directions on further development of cooperation.
