Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - The Chairperson of Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbaeva, opening the meeting of the Kengash, dwelled on the issues of enhancing the participation of members of the upper house in the large-scale reforms carried out in the country, and their effective use of their powers.

The meeting addressed the issue of increasing the effectiveness of the implementation of five important initiatives put forward by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

It was noted that in this direction, the country is conducting large-scale work to increase the spirituality and aesthetic education of young people, the level of knowledge and skills of modern information technologies, the promotion of physical culture and sports, the promotion of a healthy lifestyle among the population, the provision of employment for women, and the development of family entrepreneurship.

However, due to the lack of a unified system of coordination of this activity, criteria for evaluating the results achieved, as well as effective control, improvement of work in this direction is required. Based on this, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis identified the tasks of systematic organization of work carried out in the country on the implementation of five important initiatives, and the establishment of continuous monitoring.

To this end, as well as on the basis of the goals and objectives of the Senate Program of Action, a concept has been developed to increase the effectiveness of introducing five important initiatives into practice, and a program of practical measures to implement the tasks defined in it in 2020.

Responsible for ensuring the implementation of the tasks enshrined in the concept, identified a number of ministries and departments. It is planned to hold among them republican contests in each direction of five initiatives.

The Ministry for Support of Mahallas and Family together with the Youth Union of Uzbekistan envisages the formation within two months of a list of unorganized youth by region and an appropriate database that will be submitted to the responsible ministries and departments. All committees of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, together with local Kengashes of people’s deputies, are responsible for the fulfillment of the intended tasks, as well as a critical study of work in this direction, providing practical assistance if necessary. In addition, the need to establish practices for hearing reports from relevant ministries and departments at plenary meetings of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis was noted.

Also during the meeting, the results of studying the work on the socio-economic development of the Samarkand region were considered.

It was noted that at the suggestion of the Senate’s Commission to facilitate the revitalization of representative local authorities at the next plenary meeting of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, it is planned to hear the report of the Samarkand region’s governor on the work on the socio-economic development of the Samarkand region and increase the efficiency of the local Kengashes of people’s deputies.

On March 2-7, the working group studied the work on the socio-economic development of Samarkand region. The results of the study are envisaged to be considered by the Senate Commission to facilitate the revitalization of representative local authorities in the Samarkand regional Kengash of people’s deputies and take measures to eliminate identified problems and develop appropriate “road maps”.

The Senate plenary session envisages discussion of issues related to the socio-economic development of the Samarkand region and resolved at the republican level, with the participation of heads of relevant ministries and departments. Thus, a new practice will be introduced into the activities of the Senate.

During the meeting of the Senate Kengash, the issue of the state of work carried out to improve the living conditions of women in need of social protection and to solve problems in this direction was also considered.

It was noted that the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as important tasks facing members of the upper house, identified improving the living conditions of families in the regions, especially women in need of social protection, their comprehensive support, increasing their socio-political activity, solving existing problems, assistance in the fulfillment of tasks aimed at enhancing the interaction of state and public organizations.

In order to study the living conditions of women in need of social protection and the existing problems, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis together with the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan with the participation of khokimiyats of Syrdarya, Jizzakh, Samarkand, Navoi, Kashkadarya, Bukhara and Khorezm regions developed and approved the address “in each region (city)” roadmaps ”to improve the lives of women in difficult social situations.

The meeting noted the need for measures to popularize in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Andijan, Namangan, Surkhandarya, Tashkent, Ferghana regions and the city of Tashkent of the “Syrdarya experience” to study and solve women’s problems. In addition, the need to establish parliamentary and deputy control in this direction was emphasized.

During the meeting on this issue, other important events were identified.

The meeting of the Senate Kengash also examined issues related to the appointment of ambassadors of the Republic of Uzbekistan in some states.
