Uzbek Senator Participates in International Conference in Saint Petersburg

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Abdulkhakim Eshmuratov, Chairman of the Senate Committee of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Judicial and Legal Issues and Anti-Corruption, took part in an international conference titled “Building Trust in the Institution of Elections and Referendums: The Role of International Observation,” held in Saint Petersburg.

The event was organized by the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS and brought together parliamentarians, experts, and representatives of electoral authorities from member states of the Commonwealth.

During the conference, participants discussed ways to improve international election and referendum observation, foster electoral culture among youth, integrate modern information and communication technologies into electoral processes, explore the application of artificial intelligence, and enhance legislative regulation in the electoral sphere.

Speaking at the plenary session, Eshmuratov highlighted key features of Uzbekistan’s national electoral system, including the independence of election commissions, equal conditions for political parties, strong guarantees of citizens’ electoral rights, wide implementation of digital solutions, and consistent efforts to increase transparency and openness in electoral procedures.

Conference participants highly praised Uzbekistan’s positive experience in preparing and conducting elections and referendums, emphasizing its compliance with international standards.

The event also featured an exhibition of legal acts and specialized publications related to the organization and conduct of elections in Uzbekistan.
