Uzbek Senate Discusses Strengthening Interparliamentary Cooperation with Japan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 29 December, the Senate Committee on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investments, and Tourism held a roundtable dedicated to the development of interparliamentary cooperation.

The event highlighted that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s official visit to Japan on 18–20 December 2025, elevated bilateral strategic cooperation to a new level.

Participants emphasized that the political, interparliamentary, trade, economic, and investment agreements reached during the visit contribute to strengthening ties between the two countries.

Special attention was given to expanding contacts between friendship groups and parliamentary committees, as well as exchanging experience in legislation, digital technologies, and artificial intelligence.

Senators also noted that the adoption of the Tokyo Declaration at the first Central Asia + Japan Dialogue Summit supports regional cooperation and the advancement of initiatives in the green economy, digital transformation, and education sectors.

Following the roundtable, the priority was set on the effective use of parliamentary diplomacy mechanisms and further activation of interparliamentary relations between Uzbekistan and Japan.
