Uzbek Senate and UNDP Discuss Gender Reforms and Anti-Corruption Measures
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairwoman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, held a meeting with Akiko Fuji, the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the country.
During the talks, the parties discussed the extensive reforms carried out in recent years, with a focus on supporting women, ensuring gender equality, and social achievements.
Special attention was given to the implementation of gender standards in the work of the State Customs Committee, which received the “Silver Award for Gender Equality.”
The parties also discussed the effectiveness of anti-corruption policies, measures for training civil servants, and enhancing the transparency and accountability of local authorities.
As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to jointly implement programs aimed at improving the anti-corruption system in the regions and to increase women’s participation in public and political life in the country.
