Uzbek prosecutors learn experience of Baltic states on combating corruption

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Employees of the General-Prosecutor’s Office as part of the delegation of Uzbekistan visited Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia on 7-15 October 2013 within the joint project of the OSCE “Assisting to development of the system on combating corruption” to study experience of the Baltic states in fighting corruption.

The delegation of Uzbekistan held meetings with the representatives of the Bureau on preventing and combating corruption (KNAB), Prosecutor-General’s Office of Latvia, members of anti-corruption commission of Saiema, Prosecutor-General’s Office, Supreme Court and Special investigation service of Lithuania, special anti-corruption commission of parliament, Ministry of Justice, Prosecutor-General’s Office, Central criminal police, national audit bureau of Estonia. The sides exchanged opinion on actual issues.

During the visit, the dleegationof Uzbekistan informed the representatives of Baltics states that fighting corruption is one of priorities of the state policy and the state bodies of Uzbekistan, as well as about activities of the prosecutors’ bodies in combating corruption.

At the same time, the sides underlined close position of the states on necessity to consolidate efforts to fight crime and corruption.

The sides also considered other issues of mutual interest.
