Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited a modern greenhouse complex in Sherabad district.
The complex was organized last year by the limited liability company Sherobod Agro Impex. Tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers and eggplants are grown in the 29 hectare greenhouse. 200 local young people work here.
The head of state emphasized the importance of increasing the volume of procurement of products, which will serve to reduce its cost.
The enterprise "Sherobod Anor Impex" is also organized here. As a result of the implementation of the project worth US$5 million, the processing and packaging of pomegranates was adjusted. Equipment from South Korea and Slovenia has been installed.
In the absence of raw materials, the enterprise does not stop its activities, but switches to packing fruits, vegetables and melons.
The production capacity of the enterprise is 6 thousand tons of packaged products and 2 tons of pomegranate juice. 70 people work here.
Pomegranate fruits are purchased from the population and horticultural farms. About 30 thousand tons of pomegranates are grown annually in Sherabad district. Of these, 8 thousand tons are exported.
Until recently, there were 2.4 thousand hectares of pomegranate orchards in the region. This year, farms and entrepreneurs have laid 3,000 hectares of pomegranate orchards in place of low-yielding cotton and grain fields. In three years, it will be possible to harvest 18 thousand tons in the new gardens. It is planned to process 8 thousand tons and export 10 thousand tons of pomegranates.
