Uzbek President receives UNWTO chief
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) --
President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov received Secretary-General of the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Taleb Rifai at the Forumlar Majmuasi Complex in Samarkand city on 2 October 2014.
The UNWTO chief Taleb Rifai arrived in Uzbekistan to participate in the 90th session of the Executive Council of the UNWTO, which is taking place in Samarkand.
Islam Karimov underlined that Uzbekistan considers current visit of the UNWTO head as evidence for intention of the UNWTO to further strengthen cooperation.
During the talks, Islam Karimov and Taleb Rifai discussed issues of interaction to develop international, ecological, natural-cultural, medical and other modern types of tourism in Uzbekistan, as well as infrastructure.
The sides also discussed issues of studying and restoring historic monuments, training highly skilled specialists, as well as promoting Great Silk Road brand.
