Uzbek President receives commander of United States Central Command

Uzbek President noted the dynamically developing relations of strategic partnership and multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United States, including in political, trade and economic, investment, technological, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres.

During the meeting, special attention was paid to cooperation in the field of security, military and military-technical cooperation, the press service of the President of Uzbekistan said.

The parties discussed topical issues of countering modern challenges and threats to ensure stability in the region, as well as a peaceful settlement of the situation in Afghanistan.

Joseph Leonard Votel expressed his deep gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan for the warm welcome and conveyed sincere greetings of the US President Donald Trump.

It was emphasized that the American side highly appreciates and supports the results of the International Conference on Afghanistan, held at the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan in Tashkent in March 2018.

It was specially underlined that ensuring peace and stability in Afghanistan opens wide opportunities for building up regional trade and economic cooperation, implementing large infrastructure projects in the interests of Afghanistan and all the states of the region.

At the end of the conversation, the sides expressed their assurance that the upcoming official visit of the President of Uzbekistan to the United States will bring the Uzbek-American partnership to a qualitatively new level, and fill the mutually beneficial cooperation with concrete practical content.
