Uzbek President Pledges “All Conditions” for U.S. Companies to Succeed in the Country’s Market
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 22 September in New York, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev addressed a roundtable with executives of leading U.S. companies, investment funds, and financial institutions. In his remarks, he emphasized the strategic nature of Uzbek-American partnership and pledged his personal support for U.S. businesses operating in the country.
The President highlighted the significance of the meeting, recalling his recent talks with U.S. President Donald Trump. “Earlier this month, I had detailed discussions with the esteemed U.S. President, Mr. Trump, on the priority areas of our strategic partnership. We agreed to focus particular attention on economic cooperation and to form a serious portfolio of long-term projects,” he said.
Mirziyoyev stressed that over the past eight years, trade turnover between Uzbekistan and the U.S. has quadrupled, with more than 300 American companies already engaged in projects in critical minerals, finance, IT, pharmaceuticals, and other sectors.
“We will create all the conditions for American businesses to feel confident in Uzbekistan and fully seize the unique opportunities of our rapidly growing market,” the President declared.
He noted that since reforms began in 2017, the country’s economy has doubled, while annual foreign direct investment inflows have increased tenfold. “Major tax reforms have been carried out. Business registration procedures have been simplified. Hundreds of bureaucratic barriers have been removed. Today, foreign investors are protected by law,” Mirziyoyev said.
The President outlined four priority areas of partnership with the U.S.:
Mineral resources — developing projects for deep processing of strategic raw materials and building resilient supply chains;
IT sector — advancing artificial intelligence, digitalization, and expanding a network of tax-privileged IT parks;
Infrastructure — involving U.S. companies in public-private partnership projects in transport, energy, and construction;
Agro-industrial complex — introducing smart technologies and modern processing methods.
In conclusion, Mirziyoyev assured participants of full state support. “I personally guarantee the success of American companies in Uzbekistan. At the Ministry of Investments, a dedicated deputy minister for U.S. affairs has been appointed, who will work with you around the clock,” he emphasized.
