Uzbek President honors memory of Islam Karimov

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 2 September, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Scientific Enlightenment Memorial Complex named after Islam Karimov where he laid flowers at the monument to the First President and paid tribute to his bright memory.

This became another embodiment of Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s deep respect for his mentor, the founder of the country’s independence Islam Karimov.

In accordance with the resolution of the Head of the state "On perpetuation of the memory of the First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Abduganiyevich Karimov" of 25 January 2017, 2 September was established as the Day of Remembrance of the First President. On this day, we recall the life and multifaceted activities of Islam Karimov.

The ceremony was attended by members of parliament and government, scientists and culture workers, youth and representatives of the general public.

Ceremony of laying flowers at the monument to the First President was also held in Samarkand and Karshi.
