Uzbek Parliamentary Delegation Visits Singapore

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — From 18 to 20 November 2025, Deputy Chairman of the Senate Committee on Budget and Economic Affairs Kobul Tursunov, as part of a parliamentary delegation led by Speaker of the Legislative Chamber Nuriddin Ismailov, conducted an official working visit to Singapore, Uzbek officials reported.

During the visit, the delegation studied the operations of the Singaporean Parliament and took part in bilateral meetings and discussions aimed at expanding interparliamentary cooperation.

Singaporean lawmakers highlighted the significant reforms taking place in Uzbekistan under President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, noting the country’s rapid development and the adoption of laws aligned with international best practices and national interests.

The delegation also met with Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, who expressed a positive view of Uzbekistan’s future and emphasized that past visits by President Mirziyoyev to Singapore and former President Halima Yakub to Uzbekistan had provided an important impetus for strengthening bilateral relations.

Officials noted that the meetings and dialogues during the visit are expected to further advance interparliamentary ties between the two countries.
