Uzbek Overseas Geology Company Begins Exploration Work in Afghanistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbek Overseas Geology Company has launched a large-scale geological exploration project in Afghanistan.

The work is being carried out on the Muhammad-Zhandagar, Shamar, and Ahmadabad blocks, with the goal of identifying hydrocarbon resources, as well as iron and copper deposits.

The official launch of the project took place in the presence of Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs of Balkh Province, Mavlaviy Nurul Khodi Abu Idris, and the company’s CEO, Khayitboy Omonov.

The company received the necessary license to conduct geological exploration following negotiations with the Afghan authorities.

The project is being implemented under a cooperation agreement previously signed between the Ministry of Mining and Geology of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Mining and Petroleum of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.

During the ceremony, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to further develop collaboration in geological and mining activities, opening new opportunities to expand Uzbek-Afghan cooperation in the resource and industrial sectors.
