Uzbek Olympic Boxing Champion Mullajonov Suspended for Three Years for Doping
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbek Olympic boxing champion Lazizbek Mullajonov has been suspended for three years for violating anti-doping rules, the International Testing Agency (ITA) reported.
The positive doping test was recorded on 11 June 2025, during an out-of-competition period. As a result, Mullajonov’s suspension is effective immediately and will last until July 21, 2028.
All of Mullajonov’s results in competitions from 11 June to 22 July 2025, have been annulled.
The suspension applies only to amateur bouts.
Mullajonov will be eligible to compete professionally and is scheduled to fight Nigerian boxer Monyasah Muritador on 14 November.
In August 2025, the Boxing Federation of Uzbekistan reported that after the Olympic Games on 19 November 2024, Mullajonov underwent a hair transplant procedure at a private clinic in Fergana. The Federation noted that during the four-stage operation and subsequent treatment, he was prescribed medications that are believed to have potentially contained certain prohibited substances.
