Uzbek Officer Fired After High-Profile Incident
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — An employee of Uzbekistan’s internal affairs authorities was dismissed following an incident that sparked widespread public attention.
The case involved an intoxicated driver of a Malibu vehicle, a relative of the officer, who assaulted traffic patrol inspectors in Tashkent. The Ministry of Internal Affairs reviewed the incident, categorizing it as a negative occurrence that reflected potential abuse of official power for personal interests.
The situation was further examined in the Syrdarya region, where senior law enforcement officials analyzed the case involving the officer and his relative. Lieutenant Colonel Sherzod Pardaev, who was implicated in the violation, has been relieved of his duties.
A subsequent meeting focused on law enforcement compliance and discipline was held at the Syrdarya Regional Department of Internal Affairs, led by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Diyorbek Sattarov. Participants critically assessed systemic issues within the police force, including inadequate preventive measures, lack of a structured approach to combat violations, and insufficient accountability among certain officials.
Officials emphasized that incidents of this nature violate the principles of law-based governance expected from public authorities. The dismissal of Sherzod Pardaev was cited as a clear example of the principle of accountability.
Following the meeting, the leadership was tasked with promptly addressing identified shortcomings, strengthening professional discipline, and ensuring systematic oversight of all assigned responsibilities.
