Uzbek MPs review amendments on insurance advertising
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Factions of the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan and Milliy Tiklanish in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis held meetings to review and endorse a draft law introducing amendments and additions to the Law “On Advertising.” The proposed changes are aimed at strengthening trust among citizens and businesses in the insurance market, as well as promoting insurance services to a wider audience.
As noted by Noiba Inoyatova, a member of the Ecological Party faction, the document предусматривает a комплекс of нормы designed to ensure openness and transparency of information on insurance services, further enhance public insurance literacy, and build confidence in the sector. According to her, adoption of the draft law will help provide consumers with full and reliable information about the activities of insurance market participants and create favorable conditions for using these services.
During discussions within the Milliy Tiklanish faction, it was emphasized that in recent years Uzbekistan has carried out large-scale efforts to protect the rights and legitimate interests of consumers of insurance services. At the same time, there remains a need to strengthen insurance literacy—particularly among entrepreneurs—through broad information and awareness campaigns in the media.
The proposed amendments предусматривают additions to specific articles of the профильный law to improve insurance literacy, recognize insurance-related information as socially significant, and include authorized government bodies in the list of entities entitled to act as advertisers in this sector.
Kozim Todjiev, a member of the Milliy Tiklanish faction, stressed that the draft law is well-founded. He also put forward an initiative to require insurance companies not only to advertise their products but also to conduct systematic educational activities in the field of insurance.
During the Ecological Party faction meeting, lawmakers also heard a report on the outcomes of meetings with citizens held in constituencies from 24 to 28 March. MPs focused on explaining the essence of ongoing reforms, raising environmental awareness, and participating in the nationwide Yashil Makon project. During outreach receptions, citizens raised various issues, some of which were resolved on the spot, while others were referred for further action.
Following the discussions, it was decided to send parliamentary inquiries on the identified problems and organize further consultations with relevant ministries and agencies.
