Uzbek Mosques to Hold Special Rain Prayer on November 28

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Uzbekistan, led by Mufti Sheikh Nuriddin Kholiknazar, announced that mosques across the country will hold a special two-unit Salat al-Istisqa prayer on November 28, following Friday prayers, to ask for rain, forgiveness, and repentance amid ongoing dry conditions.

Islamic historical sources highlight the significance of Salat al-Istisqa. Tradition holds that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) led communal prayers for rain during periods of drought. Reading Sahih al-Bukhari during the prayer is considered auspicious for invoking rainfall.

Ahead of the prayer, teachers and students at higher and secondary Islamic educational institutions under the administration’s authority will recite the full text of Imam Bukhari’s collection.

In central mosques of regional cities and sacred sites, animals will be sacrificed, with the meat distributed to families in need, orphans, widows, the poor, and elderly individuals without support.

Imams and spiritual leaders on Umrah pilgrimage in Mecca and Medina will join the prayer with worshippers in the holy mosques whenever possible.

The administration’s press service urged all believers to participate in the communal prayer and seek divine blessing for rainfall and the prosperity of the nation.
