Uzbek Migration Agency Warns Citizens in Japan of Rising Fraud and Illegal Activities
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Agency for External Labor Migration has issued a warning to its citizens residing in Japan amid a surge in fraudulent schemes and the involvement of foreigners in illegal activities.
The agency urges Uzbek nationals to exercise extreme caution and reject suspicious offers that may violate Japanese law. In particular, employment arrangements involving off-the-books cash payments without tax deductions are illegal and could result in the cancellation of work visas.
The statement also highlights the risks of accepting unofficial overtime work without proper documentation, which constitutes a breach of immigration and labor regulations. Citizens are strongly advised to avoid gambling and to steer clear of individuals encouraging such activities, as gambling is strictly prohibited under Japanese law.
Furthermore, the agency warns against the use or fabrication of fake resident cards and any unauthorized operations involving bank cards. Using someone else’s card or handing over one’s own to a third party could lead to serious criminal charges and legal prosecution.
The agency emphasizes that compliance with the host country’s laws and avoidance of underground dealings are essential to ensuring personal safety and maintaining legal status abroad.
