Uzbek mass media discuss promotion of issues on strengthening family institute
The project was aimed at improving skills of journalists and editors of central and regional print mass media on professional coverage of implementation of the state programme on protection of maternity and childhood, the UN Convention on children rights and national legislation on children rights, etc.
The project was implemented in 2012-2013. It attracted over 2,000 journalists from all regions of Uzbekistan. Over 80 educational seminars and roundtables for mass media representatives were held within the project.
During the events, the journalists familiarized with measures on strengthening and developing family institute, strengthening legal and social-economic protection of interests of families and their support, especially young families, etc.
The participants underlined that mass media are important channel of information for population and play important role in promoting awareness of population. The journalists themselves need to improve their knowledge on legal sphere to write quality materials related to children rights.
According to the participants, it is necessary to attract mass media to process of information of population, families and mahallas on measures directed at protecting maternity and childhood, children rights and preventing violation among children.
It was underlined that the gradual work on this issue should be conducted among journalists and specialists of the sector. It was stated that organization of trainings and seminars should be continued.
