Uzbek-Malaysian inter-university cooperation develops in training in the fields of engineering and construction
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Malaysia, together with higher educational institutions of our country, is actively working to implement the objectives set by the Government of the Republic to develop and introduce innovations in the education system of Uzbekistan.
In this connection, the delegation of the Tashkent Architecture and Construction Institute (TASI) headed by the rector of the university R.Hakimov visited Malaysia to meet with the leaders of the Malaysian Technological University (UTM) and the University of Islamic Sciences of Malaysia (USIM), and also discuss issues of establishing cooperation, including, opening a joint master’s program based on TASI.
During the meeting with UTM Rector Vahid bin Omar, the Malaysian side was acquainted with the text of the report of President Sh.M. Mirziyoyev at a solemn meeting devoted to the 26th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan. In particular, the Malaysian sides received information on ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan in the fields of education, health, youth policy and socio-economic development. Information was provided about the Imam Bukhari International Research Center, the Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan and the Center for Islamic Civilization, as well as the Silk Road International University of Tourism, created on the initiative of the Government in the Republic.
As a result of the negotiations held, the first stage of cooperation between the two universities was the sending of a UTM student group (21 people) to Uzbekistan in January 2019 for training at the Uzbek University, as well as the visit of faculty members of TASI in February 2019 to improve their qualifications in a Malaysian university and familiarize themselves with the education system of the host country.
The second stage of cooperation of universities is to reach an agreement on the opening of a joint Uzbek-Malaysian faculty on the basis of TASI for the preparation of masters in engineering and construction.
According to the UTM Rector, the establishment of cooperation between the universities of the two countries has great potential and in the foreseeable future, the Malaysian side is ready to expand the range of this cooperation by increasing the list of trained specialists in the Uzbek-Malaysian faculty of TASI.
The Uzbek delegation also held a meeting with the Rector of the University of Islamic Sciences of Malaysia, Musa Ahmad Fask. During the negotiations, agreements were reached on cooperation in the development and exchange of curricula and teachers, the provision of material and technical assistance, professional development of specialists, the organization of joint training courses and research.
