Uzbek-Lithuanian political consultations take place in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Next round of Uzbek-Lithuanian political consultations were held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan on 23 September 2014.

The delegation of Lithuania led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Rolandas Kriščiūnas arrived in Uzbekistan to participate in political consultations.

The sides reviewed bilateral relations in political, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian and other regions, as well as in format of Uzbekistan-European Union, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said.

It was noted that both countries pay great attention to deepen multipronged cooperation and interested in continuation of regular dialogue on key global and regional problems.

The sides expressed assurance that next session of the Uzbek-Lithuanian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation in agreed terms in Tashkent will help to expand mutual beneficial trade, implement joint projects, including in free industrial and economic zone Navoi, special industrial zone Angren, where foreign investors can receive customs and tax preferences.

At the meeting, the sides called to strengthen contacts between scientific establishments and educational institutions, workers of culture and art, public organizations between Uzbekistan and Lithuania.

Representatives of foreign political departments also exchanged opinion on actual international issues.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Lithuania to Uzbekistan with residence in Moscow Renatas Norkus participated in the meeting.
