Uzbek leader ratifies friendship and cooperation treaty with China

Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan passed the law on 29 November 2013 and the Senate approved it on 13 December 2013.

President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov and President of China Xi Jinping signed the agreement on 9 September 2013 in Tashkent within the official visit of the Chinese leader to Uzbekistan.

The agreement is directed at further strengthening friendship ties and relations of strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and China.

The document determines key directions of developing cooperation in politics, trade-economic, financial-investment, transport, energy, scientific-technical and cultural-humanitarian spheres, mechanism of their implementation.

After the agreement comes into force, the law “On ratification on partnership relations on friendship and cooperation between Uzbekistan and China (Beijing, 25 May 2005)” will be abolished.
