Representatives of ministries and departments, over 40 South Korean companies, working in chemical, petrochemical, construction, electrotechnical, machinery and pharmaceutical industries attended the event.
At the event, the sides considered issues of further deepening trade-economic and investment cooperation between Uzbekistan and South Korea.
The Korean side received information on investment potential of Uzbekistan, opportunities of investment cooperation, including within special industrial zones Navoi and Angren, perspective proposals in chemical and petrochemical, pharmaceutical, electrotechnical industries, as well as ICT sector.
South Korea is a key economic, investment and technologic partner of Uzbekistan. South Korean companies are implementing projects in strategic spheres of economy of Uzbekistan. In particular, South Korean companies constructed Ustyurt Gas Chemical Complex on the base of Surgil field with the cost of US$4 billion.
Trade turnover between Uzbekistan and South Korea made up US$2 billion in 2014 and US$1.2 billion in nine months of 2015.
Some 439 enterprises with South Korean investments operate in Uzbekistan, including 75 enterprises with 100% South Korean capital. Some 72 South Korean companies accredited their offices in Uzbekistan.
They work in such spheres as oil and gas, petrochemical and chemical, mining, machinery, electrotechnical, textile and other sectors.
