Uzbek Investment and Foreign Trade Minister holds talks with the EBRD delegation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov held a meeting with a delegation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development headed by Francis Malige, managing director of a group of financial institutions, on 24 May.

This meeting was preceded by a series of negotiations with commercial banks and non-bank financial institutions of the republic, conducted in accordance with agreements reached during the participation of the Uzbek delegation in the annual meeting of the EBRD Board of Governors in Sarajevo in May of this year.

During the meetings, ways of possible cooperation with the EBRD were discussed, and important agreements were reached to increase the limit of existing and open additional trade finance lines, credit agreements were concluded and possibilities for technical assistance with the assistance of foreign consultants were discussed.

During the negotiations in the Ministry, Francis Malige noted the importance of strengthening cooperation and expressed readiness to provide comprehensive support to the Government of Uzbekistan in reforming the banking sector of the republic.

Following the meeting, the parties worked out possible scenarios for further cooperation and outlined further steps for the implementation of joint initiatives.
