Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - A news conference was held at the Agency for Information and Mass Communications on the prevention of the spread of coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in Uzbekistan, organized by the Ministry of Health.

The press conference was attended by the leadership of the Ministry of Health, representatives of relevant ministries and departments, the diplomatic corps and international organizations operating in our country, and journalists from domestic and foreign media.

At an event on the epidemic state in the world on coronavirus and measures taken in our country to prevent the importation and spread of COVID-19, the Minister of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan Alisher Shadmanov spoke.

It is worth noting that on 29 January 2020, a decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On the creation of a republican special commission to prepare a program of measures to prevent the entry and spread of coronavirus into the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan” was adopted.

Urgent tasks were set at meetings of the emergency commission to combat the epidemic in the Cabinet of Ministers under the leadership of the Prime Minister. Responsible persons were given clear instructions and instructions on the revised, in accordance with the requirements of today, activities of sanitary and quarantine points established in the headquarters regions established in the air and railway ways, establishing strong cooperation with hotels, enterprises, mahallas and internal affairs bodies, timely notification to them about the requirements and recommendations of the state, improving the medical-patronage service, compliance with sanitary rules in preschool educational institutions, schools, higher educational institutions and public places.

In turn, in order to strengthen control and preventive measures, joint decisions were signed with the ministries of preschool education, public education, higher and secondary special education, and other departments.

As noted, currently there are sanitary quarantine points (UPCs) at the state border to prevent the importation and spread of infectious diseases to the country, including COVID-19. Today, in these UPCs, along with other industry personnel, in accordance with the established standards, more than 250 highly qualified specialists of the sanitary-epidemiological service work. Under the Ministry of Health and the Agency for Sanitary and Epidemiological Well-Being, a headquarters has been set up working 24 hours a day.

Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Mikhail Olegovich Taborov, a member of the American Society of Microbiology, an international expert in the field of public health and epidemiology, also answers topical questions on the epidemic situation in the world. He devoted over 40 years to the study and prevention of infectious diseases in various regions of the world - from rare types of hepatitis in Central Asia to typhoid fever in Kenya and Mali.

At the moment, Mikhail Fovorov is studying the spread of coronavirus infection in the world and the state of Uzbekistan. These days, M. Favorov, as an independent international expert, together with specialists from the headquarters under the Ministry of Health to prevent the importation and spread of coronavirus in our country, provides advice to medical workers in specialized medical institutions in this area. As noted at a press conference, preventive and anti-epidemic measures to ensure the epidemiological welfare of the population for coronavirus infection are carried out in accordance with international health rules.
