Uzbek gymnast banned for doping at London Olympics

The FIG says 20-year-old Luiza Galiulina is suspended through 30 January 2013. She will also pay $2,100 toward the disciplinary hearing costs.

Galiulina tested positive in London for furosemide, a banned diuretic, in a urine sample taken two days before the games opened. She was not expected to contend for a medal.

Luiza Galiulina and Uzbek officials can appeal within 21 days.
