Uzbek Government Approves Regulation on National Coordinate System
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 10 February 2026, the government of the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted a decree approving the Regulation on the “National Coordinate System of the Republic of Uzbekistan.”
The document establishes the framework for the operation and key components of the national geospatial coordinate system.
According to the decree, the National Coordinate System includes the national geodetic reference datum, the global model of the Earth’s gravity field, the system’s initial zero point, catalogs of points within the state geodetic network, and the database of the National Coordinate System.
The initial zero point is located at a geodetic marker on Choponata Hill in the city of Samarkand, Samarkand Region. The system is based on the global Earth Gravity Model EGM2008.
Access to the National Coordinate System database is provided via a web platform, enabling specialists and organizations to use up-to-date information for geodetic, cartographic, and infrastructure projects.
The adoption of this regulation is aimed at improving the accuracy of geodetic measurements and facilitating the planning and implementation of engineering, construction, and scientific projects across the country.
