Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 28 February 2020, in Doha (Qatar), a delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov held negotiations with the Special Representative of the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany for Afghanistan Marcus Potzel.
During the meeting, the efforts of Uzbekistan and Germany to stabilize the situation in Afghanistan and speedy launch of a peaceful political process in that country were discussed.
The Special Representative of the Federal Republic of Germany highly appreciated the steps taken by the head of Uzbekistan to resolve the Afghan crisis as soon as possible, and to provide practical assistance in implementing various economic projects in Afghanistan.
The German diplomat reiterated the importance of the International Conference on Afghanistan held in Tashkent in March 2018, which led to a noticeable intensification of the efforts of the world community in the matter of the early launch of the peace negotiations in the IRA. According to him, today Uzbekistan plays one of the key roles in this matter, due to its high authority among the Afghan people and the friendly policy pursued in relation to neighboring Afghanistan.
The parties also emphasized the importance of further coordinating the actions of Uzbekistan and Germany on the peaceful settlement of the Afghan problem.
