Uzbek FM receives EU Special envoy for Central Asia

The sides discussed current state and perspectives of developing comprehensive dialogue between Uzbekistan and the European Union in 2014 and exchanged opinion on some international and regional problems, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan said.

It was noted that bilateral and multilateral institutes of cooperation play important role in further deepening relations and giving them complex character, including within the Strategy of new partnership of the European Union in Central Asia.

It was said that sessions of joint committees of cooperation, parliamentary cooperation, sub-committee on economic, trade and investment, on justice, internal affairs, human rights and other issues were held in 2013.

At the meeting, the sides also considered a schedule of upcoming contacts in political, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres. The sides underlined mutual interest in further developing construction relations among state and public structure, business circles, civil society, education, science and cultural institutions of Uzbekistan and the EU.

Head of the Delegation of the European Union in Uzbekistan Ambassador Yuri Sterk participated at the meeting.
