Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 3 September 2021, Finance Minister Timur Ishmetov met with a delegation led by the Chairman of the Board of "ACWA Power" Saudi Arabia Muhammad Abunayan. 

The meeting, which was attended by the Chairman of the Board of “Al Muhaidib Group” Suleiman al Muhaidib, Vice President for Business Development of “ACWA Power” Tom Terlink, First Deputy Minister of Finance Omonullo Nasritdinxodjaev and senior officials, discussed the projects implemented by the company and prospects for cooperation in Uzbekistan.

Three projects are being implemented on the basis of public-private partnership with “ACWA Power”. These are the construction of a thermal power plant with a capacity of 1 500 MW in the region of Sirdarya, the construction of 2 power plants with a capacity of 500 MW each in the Bukhara region and a new project on the production of electricity on the basis of renewable resources of a total capacity of 1 500 MW in 3 districts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan. 

During the meeting, the sides talked about the reforms carried out in the direction of development of the capital market in Uzbekistan, transformation of enterprises and banks with the participation of the state, Public-Private Partnership and development of the private sector, and agreed on cooperation within the framework of existing and new directions.
