Uzbek envoy, WTO Deputy Director-General discuss prospects for development of cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva Ulugbek Lapasov met with the Deputy Director-General of the World Trade Organization Alan Wolff.
The sides discussed issues of current state and prospects for development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and WTO.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, it was noted that Alan Wolf will take part and speak at the International Conference "Interconnectedness in Central Asia: Challenges and New Opportunities", which will be held on 19-20 February in Tashkent. This visit is of particular relevance in the context of enhancing the process of Uzbekistan’s accession to the World Trade Organization.
The WTO Secretariat will also provide the necessary technical assistance to Uzbekistan in the training of national personnel involved in the process of joining the country.
In Tashkent and Geneva, together with foreign partners, a series of events will be held aimed at improving the skills and applying international best practices in the field of domestic and foreign trade.
Representatives of Uzbekistan will be invited to thematic events, including conferences, round tables, trainings and seminars organized by the WTO.
