Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Ambassador of Uzbekistan Kadambay Sultanov met with the Minister of Internal Affairs of Latvia Sandis Girgens, in Riga.
The parties discussed prospects for further strengthening Uzbekistan – Latvia cooperation through specialized agencies and exchanged views on prospects for resuming and activating activities of bilateral consultation mechanisms of interdepartmental partnership.
The Ambassador provided information on the results of reforms implemented in accordance with provisions of five-year Development Strategy of Uzbekistan.
Sandis Girgens positively assessed deep transformations in law enforcement system of Uzbekistan, carried out at the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and noted the similarity of a number of innovations between the two countries.
The Minister noted that Latvian side is interested in further development of interdepartmental cooperation, including using the possibilities of Joint Commission for fighting against organized crime, terrorism, illicit traffic in narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors, established in accordance with provisions of the Intergovernmental Agreement of 2002.
