Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 14 December 2019, a roundtable discussion was held at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Islamabad for representatives of political circles and the media of Pakistan, who plan to visit Uzbekistan as observers for the upcoming 22 December parliamentary elections.

Senator and Chairman of the “Parliamentary Friendship Group with Uzbekistan” Hidayat Ullah, Deputy of the lower house of the Parliament of Pakistan Muhammad Yaqoob Shaikh, journalists were thoroughly acquainted with the electoral system, including the new Electoral Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the provisions of which meet modern democratic standards.

Together with the expert for international affairs Dr. Mahmood ul Hassan Khan, presentations on political and parliamentary system of Uzbekistan, fundamental democratic and judicial reforms conducted in the country under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev within the framework of the Action Strategy for five priority areas of development of Uzbekistan for 2017-2021 was organized for the participants of the event.

Views were exchanged on the preparations for the elections to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and local Councils.
