Uzbek, Dutch farmers outlines areas of cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 10 April 2019, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan Dilyor Khakimov held a meeting with the managing director of the non-commercial agro-agency Agriterra Kis Blokblendl in Arnhem (Netherlands).

During the talks, the parties confirmed the high demand for Agri Terra’s potential in Uzbekistan, created 20 years ago by a group of Dutch farmer organizations and cooperatives to develop international agricultural cooperation, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan reports.

The main area of specialization of the agency is providing the necessary knowledge to ensure the financial sustainability of farms and cooperatives, strengthening the role of farmers, as well as developing a dialogue between farmers and the government.

During the negotiations, particular attention was paid to prospects of cooperation of Uzbek agricultural enterprises with Agriterra for consulting services, training, as well as the exchange of visits of farmers’ delegations.

The Dutch side agreed to provide the Uzbek side with training and consulting assistance in such areas as “management and organization of farms”, “financial management”, “management”, “business development”, “lobbying and protecting the interests of farmers”.

Following the meeting, the following agreements were reached:

- organizing a meeting with the delegation of the Tadbirkor Ayol Association during its visit to the Netherlands in late April - early May;

- elaboration of the question of including a representative of Agriterra in the regular trade mission of Dutch companies to Uzbekistan in June to participate in the work of the International specialized exhibition Uzbekistan Agrotech Expo 2019.
