Uzbek Deputy Foreign Minister Meets UAE Counterpart in Abu Dhabi

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 11 December, in Abu Dhabi, Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Olimjon Abdullaev, held a meeting with UAE Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Omar Ubaid Al-Shamsi.

The sides discussed the current state of bilateral relations and prospects for developing political, trade-economic, and cultural cooperation. Al-Shamsi emphasized that the warm relations between the leaders of the two countries provide a solid foundation for strengthening ties between Uzbekistan and the UAE.

In this context, he particularly noted the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan to the Emirates in January of this year, highlighting that it elevated bilateral relations to a strategic level.

Consular and legal issues were also discussed, including the creation of conditions to ensure the comfortable stay of Uzbek citizens in the UAE.

Al-Shamsi supported the initiative to hold consular consultations between the foreign ministries and confirmed readiness to sign a Memorandum of Understanding, which will become the first such document between the two countries.

The parties agreed to hold the first round of consultations in the first quarter of 2026 at a mutually convenient time.
