Within the visit to Brussels, the delegation of Uzbekistan took part in the regular session of the Uzbekistan - EU Cooperation Committee and the Subcommittee for economy, trade and investment, as well as a business seminar “Uzbekistan-Belgium”.
During the meetings of the Uzbekistan-EU Cooperation Committee and the Subcommittee for economy, trade and investment, the sided outlined concrete measures on expanding economic cooperation, including within the framework large-scale programmes of modernization and industrial diversification, infrastructure development, privatization of state enterprises and introduction of modern methods of corporate governance, implemented in Uzbekistan.
Over 50 representatives of European and Belgian companies attended the business seminar “Uzbekistan-Belgium”, which was hosted by Flemish Agency for Investment and Trade. The participants discussed and exchanged opinion on perspectives investment cooperation in oil and gas, chemical, construction, electrical, textile, agricultural, food industries, information technologies and tourism.
During the visit, the delegation also held a number of bilateral meetings and negotiations with heads of the European Commission, including with the Secretary-General of the European external action service (EEAS) Alain Le Roy, the European Commissioner for energy Union Maroš Šefčovič, Director General of the Directorate for international cooperation and development Fernando Frutuoso de Melo.
