Uzbek Delegation Studies Hungarian Experience in Energy Security
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from Uzbekistan visited Hungary as part of the “Energy Security and Regional Cooperation in Central Asia” project, implemented by the Institute for Advanced International Studies at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy in partnership with the Japanese Nippon Foundation, the Dunyō news agency reports.
The delegation included Umid Yakubkhodjaev, a member of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, Otabek Amanov, Deputy Director of the Uzatom Agency Directorate, and experts from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy.
During the visit, the delegation held discussions with leadership and experts from the Institute of Energy Strategy at Hungary’s Ministry of Energy, the Hungarian Atomic Energy Agency, the Hungarian Institute of International Affairs, the Ludovika National University of Public Service, the Hungarian Climate Policy Institute, the Danube Institute, as well as representatives of the energy company MVM CEEnergy Zrt. and its Energy System Management Center.
The primary goal of the trip was to study Hungary’s experience in ensuring energy security, diversifying energy supplies, and developing international cooperation, including with Central Asian states. The knowledge and practices gained are planned to be used to improve Uzbekistan’s national policies in this area.
As part of the program, the delegation also participated in the ceremonial opening of the Center for Turkic World Studies at Ludovika National University of Public Service. Uzbek representatives took part in panel discussions on strategic vision, geopolitics, and interconnections in the Turkic world, alongside experts from Hungary, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, and Uzbekistan.
During discussions with Hungarian partners, Uzbekistan presented its national strategies in energy security, green transition, diversification of energy sources, and strengthening public support for nuclear energy. The Hungarian side expressed particular interest in expanding cooperation with Uzbekistan and other Central Asian countries in energy, academic exchanges, and joint research.
The visit allowed Uzbek experts to gain valuable insights into Hungary’s pragmatic approach to energy security, climate policy, and international engagement, while reaffirming mutual interest in deepening bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
