Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 26 February 2020, the Royal Institute of International Relations (Chatham House) hosted a meeting of the delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan consisting of the Deputy Director of ISMI S. Valiev, Deputy Minister of Finance O. Isakov and the leading researcher at the UWED A. Umarov with a group of leading analysts at Chatham House, the Royal Institute for Defense Studies, the UK Foreign Office and the Prism Risk Assessment Research Center.
Representatives of Uzbekistan presented an analysis of current reforms, the course of socio-economic reforms, the priorities of the republic’s foreign policy, efforts to deepen and expand regional cooperation in Central Asia, the main areas of cooperation with leading partner countries like the USA, Russia, China, EU and Great Britain.
Along with this, British experts were informed about the new investment strategy of Uzbekistan, reforms in the banking sector, ensuring the rule of law and independence of the judicial system, opening up potential opportunities for foreign investments and doing business in the country.
British experts, expressing optimism about the ongoing transformation of the national development model in Uzbekistan, showed great interest in promising areas for expanding the reform agenda and the urgent tasks of foreign policy.
A constructive exchange of views took place on the issues of international and regional economic integration of Uzbekistan, as well as ensuring stability and sustainable development of Central Asia.
Following the meeting, agreements were reached on enhancing cooperation between the leading think tanks of the two countries, preparing joint publications and conducting research projects.
