Uzbek delegation attends CICA ministerial meeting in New York
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 23 September 2019, a delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan headed by Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov, who is on a visit to the United States, took part in a meeting of ministers of member states of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
During the meeting, its participants discussed a wide range of issues of regional and international security, ensuring sustainable economic development, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, as well as the situation in Afghanistan.
In his speech, the head of the Uzbek delegation emphasized that in recent years, the CICA has become a full-fledged international platform for dialogue in order to create a common and indivisible security space in Asia.
The Minister also congratulated the Tajik side on its successful chairmanship of the organization and expressed support for the CICA Action Plan for 2020, which, inter alia, provides for holding international conferences on combating youth radicalization on the Uzbek initiative.
As was emphasized, the future, security, sustainable development and prosperity of our continent are directly dependent on how we nurture the young generation. In this regard, Abdulaziz Kamilov called for joint efforts to develop and adopt the UN International Convention on the Rights of Youth, the purpose of which is to create favorable conditions for the harmonious development and self-realization of young people.
In conclusion, the Minister expressed his readiness to support further efforts to jointly build confidence and find mutually beneficial solutions that will achieve common noble goals - ensuring peace, stability and prosperity in the Asian region.
Other issues on the CICA agenda were discussed at the meeting.
